As I look back on 2018 and the success I've had I can attribute it to two main things: face-to-face networking and consistent follow-up. I joined a few networking groups at the beginning of August, and my contracted projects with local clients increased dramatically! I still attend and find I can help at least one new attendee each meeting. This doesn't always turn into contracted writing work. However, I trust that by helping over time and building the relationship, they will come to me when they do need to write something on their website, send out marketing letters or email and start new social media campaigns. I will also know more about them to suggest other writing strategies they can use to make their marketing more effective. I follow-up with new potential clients, but also each of my past clients on a regular basis. If I can find an article or snippet of a topic I feel could help educate them as to doing something better for their company. It could be related to their marketing, social media, writing or business building in general. By touching base, keeping my eyes and ears open for ways I can help them in the future, I further build trust and knowledge about their industry. How are you going to make 2019 successful?
